Plesoland - Plesopolis
Music-and-dance urban culture that pulsates in the life of every city is a substrate of different influences, views on life, poetics, politics, personal thoughts and frustrations, personal physical capabilities and predispositions, personal aesthetics, musical taste, personal wishes and urges, material conditions, wish for proving oneself, different styles, methods and influences, experiments, lucidity, imagination, personal creation,.
All this creates one big music-and-dance circus in which different personalities and individuals, subcultural groups, fans, dependent and independent, in general - people of all ages and structures find consolation. We are interested in dance as a mass social phenomenon, dance as communication and its therapeutic significance in lives of ordinary people of this city.
The basic motive of this project, or museum's music-and-dance installation, is to transform this conglomerate into a unique music-and-dance circus called PLESOPOLIS or PLESOLAND, with all its different characters, phenomena, atmospheres and situations. In the atmosphere of Fellini's movies we wanted to put, in the unique space and ambient of Glipoteka HAZU in Medvedgradska 2, a gallery of live exhibits that are completely different in their aesthetics and poetics, and musical taste that in the same time, but at different locations within the museum tried to show a small fragment of their real lives.
Music-and-dance happening Plesoland took place on Saturday, October 6th 2007 from 9 PM to 01 AM at Gliptoteka HAZU, Medvedgradska 2.
